# Web browsers

*This article is a stub. Right now it's mostly rage and me trying to remember what I used and how it was.*

The ever ubiquitous browsers have gradually consumed the world and are evil and I will not elaborate further.

## TUI

[[Terminal UI]] browsers are the objectively superior option and must be used instead of whatever this modern idiocracy is.

- Links
    > The greatest one, but still is a tui
    - Elinks
        > The greatest successor and even better but still suffers same issues
    - Lynx
        > uuuuuh, it's pretty? Elinks is better
- w3m
    > It's fine
- chawan>https://git.sr.ht/~bptato/chawan)
    > Honestly most powerful and good looking, supports HTTP(S), (S)FTP, Gopher, Gemini, etc what a package! (apparently it looses to elinks on that front since it also supports all those and more).
- (the firefox backend one) (browsh?)
    > Could be better, fails at both ends

## Open source

Always have some problems.

- surf
    > You control your software but you also make it. Suckless is a lego kit without any lego, too bad
- Qutebrowser
    > I hate it, used so much and had so much issues (and god it eats ram so much) that I hate it, uses [[WebEngine]] which itself is basically [[Chromium]] which itself is garbage
- LuaKit
    > Never properly worked, always crashed and had many problems with displaying things because of [[Webkit]]
- Min
    > Browser running on electron, genius (actually) and is honestly best browser yet...

## Closed source

Always spying on you and weigh a ton.

- Edge
    > See chrome
- IE
    > Never worked (why is it here?)
- Firefox (it is)
    > Feels bad
- Chrome (and all offshoots)
    > Hi, I would like your data and your data and your data and your life please
- Vivaldi
    > Fake candy and now even more companies spy on you

## Mobile

It's all bad. Not even going to write stuff under those.

- Chrome
- Firefox
- Browser????? (the default one)
- Vivaldi
- Kiwi
